Project – Petchey Academy

petchpr.jpgRoofing specialists Alumasc have supplied their Hydrotech MM6125 structural waterproofing system to a stunning new school building in London. The Petchey Academy in Hackney is home to 1200 students and boasts a state-of-the-art building incorporating a sixth form centre.

Architectural practice Aedas required a waterproofing solution to fulfill a challenging brief. Alumasc’s Hydrotech was installed by Tilbury Contracts of Rainham, Essex, to provide a fastrack waterproofing and inverted roofing system to the main roof area covering 2600m². Separate plant areas and a 400m² terrace were completed early, together with 1300mm high waterproofed and insulated perimeter upstands. This enabled the timely installation of associated glazing and cladding to ensure that tight contractor deadlines were met successfully. Hydrotech’s unique formulation guarantees lifetime performance. It is manufactured using 20% postconsumer recycled material and is supplied under Alumasc’s ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Standard. In addition, the system is fully warranted, BBA approved and has European Technical Approval ETA-05/0152. The Main Contractor at Petchey Academy was Norwest Holst.
